The Professional (1981)

Director: Georges Lautner
Writers: Patrick Alexander, Georges Lautner, Jacques Audiard
Stars: Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean Desailly, Cyrielle Clair
Guns: Colt Python, M1911A1, Armalite AR-10, SIG Manurhin SG 540

In the 1981 French action thriller “Le Professionnel,” the Colt Python plays a significant and memorable role, becoming a symbol of power and determination in the hands of the film’s protagonist, Josselin Beaumont, portrayed by the legendary actor Jean-Paul Belmondo.

Josselin Beaumont is a highly skilled and experienced hitman, known for his exceptional marksmanship and efficiency. Throughout the movie, he pursues his targets with unwavering determination and precision, and the Colt Python becomes his weapon of choice, perfectly embodying his lethal proficiency.

The Colt Python’s appearance in “Le Professionnel” is carefully crafted to accentuate Beaumont’s aura of authority and professionalism. The revolver’s polished and sleek design highlights its elegance, reflecting Beaumont’s refined and meticulous approach to his assignments.

As Beaumont navigates through a web of political intrigue and corruption, the Colt Python becomes an extension of his persona. It represents his unyielding pursuit of justice and his commitment to his mission, even in the face of formidable adversaries.

One of the most memorable scenes in the movie showcases Beaumont’s exceptional shooting skills as he performs an astonishing long-range shot with his Colt Python. This sequence not only underscores the revolver’s incredible accuracy but also solidifies Beaumont’s reputation as a skilled and fearless professional.

We were also blown away by the incredible design of this revolver. And we could not bypass Colt Python when creating the W.POLAH miniature guns line. For our miniature, we chose a short-barreled version of the revolver with a 4-inch barrel, which was more often used by secret services for agents in civilian clothes. The handmade mini revolver’s appearance closely follows the real Colt Python 357 Magnum with a 6-shot cylinder, but in a 1:4 scale and under a 2mm centerfire cartridge. This is a metal scale model and functionally it is also as close as possible to a real weapon. Hammer is cocked. The drum can also effectively be tilted to the side for loading cartridges. When the trigger is pressed, a shot is fired. For the safety of the shooter, so that the drum does not rotate uncontrollably, we added a special system with a bearing to lock the drum in the required position when shooting. We made the miniature as close as possible to the real Colt Python. We have preserved the proportions and detail. Notched wooden grips have been added.
